'Young dragon hiding.' Pyrography on kauri pine plywood. Features a dark line and tone technique with colour. The colour is added using a very dilute watercolour wash in parts as an underpainting and subesquent coloured pencil layers, burnished and polished into the timber surface with continued shading using the pyrography pen set at a very low heat. Only one nib (bent writing tip) was used for the entire piece. A step by step tutorial can be found amongst the 'older posts' at www.whimsicalwood.blogspot.com and has been published in 'Pyrography Magazine' Fox Chapel.
