The 'Cariad' Lovespoon Carved from a single piece of walnut contains on the front, motifs of; gear wheel and pinion, Canadian geese, a representation of Mount Tryfan in North Wales, an iron gate situated near the mountain, celtic knotwork and as a captured ring on the neck of the spoon a representation of the 'Iron Ring' worn by Canadian engineers. All of these elements were of particular importance to the couple who commissioned the spoon.
