The Whimsicalwood.com Automata... is constructed from a wide variety of timbers, shaped, carved and finished with a range of techniqes, including staining and painting. The purpose of this automata was to test and learn some automata building skills and experience. It was also intended to function as an eye-catching animated attraction and link to the whimsicalwood.com website, at shows.

It is my first automata and is the result of implementing many of the wood-art and graphic techniques featured on this site. Some documentation of the step-by-step employment of these techniques used in its construction, can be found on the older www.whimsicalwood.blogspot.com blog in the link below.
