Whimsicalwood - Woodcarving Gallery
This Gallery features an heraldic shield with moto. It is for a section of the Harris family having; three hedgehogs a halved Tudor Rose and Soccer Ball on their respective pales of the shield. The Shield and moto ribbon are carved separately and are attatched to a carved background. The timber type is unknown and has been stained with darker and lighter sections to denote the darker and lighter colours in the original.
The Desolation of Smug Consists of a double-sided dragon carving carved from a single piece of pittosporum timber, set on an oak base in front of a framed mirror background, that reflects the reverse side of the dragon carving. The front view of the dragon shows the dragon sitting atop a large nugget, gilded with 24 carat gold leaf. The reverse side shows fossilised remains of the dragon, a cavity where the nugget had been and the prospector's tools.
